I begin my paintings with spontaneous layers of paint which are then altered by scraping, lifting, and adding elements for a more interesting surface. This is the stage when I am most excited about the process. I also  prefer to work on several paintings at a time.

Finishing a painting, stage two, is an emotional experience and is all about composition  and balance.
